BRUCKNER2024 is an ambitious project by Gerd Schaller to record all the symphonies of Anton Bruckner in all essential versions, to be completed on CD for the 200th birthday of the composer.

Anton Bruckner created true cathedrals of sound. Like no other composer, he has repeatedly worked on his compositions and made changes in pursuit of the ideal form. Therefore there are different variants or versions of his symphonies. Now all of them will be recorded by BRUCKNER2024 within one overall artistic reading by Gerd Schaller and the Philharmonie Festiva. The direct comparison of the different versions in a unified interpretation provides a special opportunity for the unique complexity of the composing personality of Anton Bruckner to be illustrated and clarified.

Gerd Schaller’s internationally highly praised Bruckner cycle serves as the basis upon which BRUCKNER2024 will be assembled. Some symphonies have already been recorded in different versions and the addition of the remaining variants will take place during the coming years. The CDs will be released on the Profil Edition Günter Hänssler, availiable worldwide.

The final goal is Bruckner's 200th birthday — on 4th September 2024. This anniversary will be celebrated with a Bruckner-Fest at the Ebrach Music Summer Festival.
